Responding to the Changing Needs of International Educators

Alethea aims to be a dynamic force for good, bringing together professionals, activists, and knowledge experts from around the world to support the international education sector. To achieve this objective, our cooperative organization must include the voices and influence of our newly formed Global Knowledge Collective.

The Global Knowledge Collective is integral to Alethea’s mission of transforming international education for a sustainable and just future. Through their contributions and collaboration, we can achieve our vision of a climate-conscious, equitable education sector.

Shared Prosperity for the Global Knowledge Collective

Alethea’s worker cooperative model is at the heart of everything we do. Unlike traditional organizations driven by profit or shareholder value, our cooperative is owned and governed by its members — those who work for and contribute to its success. This structure enables us to prioritize the needs and interests of our community members above all else.

Members of the Global Knowledge Collective receive financial compensation for their contributions to Alethea’s training courses or may designate the compensation go to a named recipent or organization. This aligns with our values of fairness and collaboration. Through this partnership, Alethea leverages the collective expertise to drive innovation and excellence in international education, promoting shared prosperity.

What is the role of the Global Knowledge Collective?

Alethea’s Global Knowledge Collective is essential in driving the development and refinement of Alethea’s training and courses, ensuring they remain at the forefront of educational innovation. The Collective’s responsibilities include:

  • Shaping Training Content: By contributing to the design and update of courses like the Foundations of Climate Action and Internationalization, the Collective ensures our educational materials are relevant and impactful.
  • Identifying Trends and Opportunities: The Collective keeps Alethea ahead of the curve by spotting emerging research trends and educational opportunities, allowing us to adapt and meet the evolving needs of the international education sector.
  • Collaborative Projects: Members explore joint projects and co-develop educational resources, fostering innovation and excellence in our offerings.
  • Engagement and Communication: Through semi-annual virtual meetings and asynchronous communication, the Collective ensures transparent and continuous collaboration with the Alethea team.
