She specializes in strategy, marketing, and stakeholder relations with ten years in international education. She received her Global Executive MBA from Georgetown University in Washington, DC in 2018 and has since completed several training programs in Sustainability, Social Responsibility, and Climate Action. In July 2020 CJ was trained as a Climate Reality Leader by former Vice President Al Gore. She is proudly one of the founding members of CANIE: Climate Action Network for International Educators and served three years as the inaugural Vice President of the board.

Margherita Pasquini

Margherita wants to change the business as usual philosophy, making international higher education an industry where sustainability is at the center.
She has a strong focus on business development, program design, and international partner relations. She has extensive experience as a trainer, and she has collaborated with several international education associations in the last 5 years.
She is proudly the current President of the CANIE Europe Chapter, having been involved with the organization since 2021. Her 14 years of experience building student mobility partnerships around the world, five years of working with virtual event organizers, and her volunteer work with CANIE has made Margherita a leading international education practitioner in the carbon reduction space. Margherita holds two Master Degrees, one each in Modern Phililogy and Marketing, Communication and New Technologies at 24ORE Business School. She also speaks 4 languages fluently.

Mehwish Kareem

Mehwish envisions a future where climate justice is at the forefront of global decision-making, ensuring that the most affected communities receive the support and resources they need to thrive.
She is a passionate advocate for environmental equity and sustainable development, driven by a profound belief that climate change is not just an environmental issue but a deeply interconnected and intersectional challenge that requires inclusive solutions. With more than 15 years of international experience in education, marketing and strategy, primarily in the global south, she has been affected directly by climate change and has an unwavering commitment to addressing the urgent challenges posed by the lack of equality in climate resilience.
Mehwish completed her MSc in Digital Marketing from the University of Bristol on a Chevening scholarship, got trained as a Climate Reality Leader, and is a certified facilitator and UN SDGs multiplier by Gaia Education, UK. She is among the first few candidates to obtain the 1st International Certificate on Sustainability Knowledge by Sulitest.

Sarah is excited to see the industry transform to be more just, equitable, and sustainable for all stakeholders, namely the students we serve.
A leader in the international education sector for over 15 years, Sarah has held senior management positions at the Canadian Education Centre Network, BC Council for International Education, and ICEF. In fall 2021, Sarah was trained as a Climate Reality Leader by former Vice President Al Gore. She holds a certificate in Sustainable Business Strategy from Harvard Business School Online and a diploma in Marketing Management from BCIT. Passionate about social change and environmental sustainability Sarah is using her partnership-building expertise, keen sense of strategy, and global perspective to create meaningful change in the sector.

Tania Suarez Mendoza

Tania believes in working towards developing sustainable solutions that promote and result in successful and fulfilling journeys for international students.
She and her family immigrated to Canada in 2005 and her lived experience led to her passion for working in support of settlement agencies, academic institutions, and service providers that support international students and newcomers. For the past six years, Tania has built her professional career in the marketing, stakeholder management, and process management spheres following her acquisition of a Bachelor in Communications from Capilano University and a Certificate of Communication Design from BCIT.
In her free time she volunteers with the Climate Action Network for International Educators having supported the marketing efforts since 2021.

Kelly Davis

Kelly believes that strategic, systemic approaches will support the synergy of international education and climate action.
She both studied abroad, gaining a deep appreciation for cultural exchange, and occupied an elevator with other university students to protest fossil fuel investment. Kelly still calls back to her days as a student activist to orient herself in student advising or developing policies impacting students, but has since turned to focusing her energy on navigating pathways for higher education institutions to engage in climate action through research and analysis. She knows this is where her talents are best suited, and how she can make the strongest impact.
Kelly has 7 years working as a researcher, practitioner and analyst in higher education and began working in international education in 2018. She holds masters degrees in both Higher Education and European Politics and Policy. She has been engaged with CANIE since 2022 and currently serves as Treasurer.

Immy Mukawumbya

Immy wants to build a safer future for the next generations.
She started her foundation, Shine with Skills, in Uganda in 2017 offering free vocational training programs to youths and women in her community of Jinja, Eastern Uganda.
Immy came to the UK at 11 years old and later studied at the University of Portsmouth with a BA (Hons) in History with a focus on the civil rights movement (1865 – present) in America.
Born in Uganda, Immy has witnessed the effects of climate change and the effects it has on marginalized communities in poor countries. She has always been an advocate for disadvantaged communities.
Immy has worked in the international education sector for over 8 years in sales, marketing and partnerships globally. Her passion for the sector has given her the opportunity to work with both commercial and public institutions. Immy believes there is a lot of work to be done in the international education sector in the topic of sustainability, climate justice and climate change and is thrilled to be on the leading edge of the transformation.

Noreen Lucey

Noreen believes in our interconnectedness to the living, natural environment and the need for a systems thinking approach in International Education to address the interlinked issues of climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution.
Noreen is a sustainability expert with over a decade of experience in international education and climate action, working across public and private sectors. She collaborates with Native Events and Julie’s Bicycle, advising the Arts Council Ireland on climate policy and leading training for the arts and culture sector. With qualifications in sustainability, business leadership, and design thinking, she is a Climate Reality Leadership Corps member and a Climate Ambassador. She is also an active member of the CANIE Europe Chapter leadership team. Outside her advocacy work, she practices regenerative agriculture through part-time farming.

Amy is an Environmental Professional (EP) who is passionate about enacting thoughtful and practical solutions to climate change.
She works as the Climate Specialist at Bow Valley College, where she leads the annual greenhouse gas emissions inventory and climate action plan. Amy has an MSc in Environment, Culture & Society from the University of Edinburgh, and recently completed an MA in Climate Action Leadership from Royal Roads University. Amy prioritizes time in the outdoors and time with family, when not re-watching The X Files.

Marcie has dedicated her career to supporting the delivery of quality education for students domestic and abroad. Her decades of work began as a teacher and has grown to include teaching, educational publishing, digital transformation, and language testing. Recognizing that we must create an immediate call to action to address the climate crisis, Marcie is passionate about working with the education sector to help create, deliver and implement pathways for transformational change thus helping provide a sustainable future for generations to follow.

With over 19+ years working within higher education, Karie has witnessed firsthand the need for greater global awareness, inclusivity, and equity. This experience has instilled in her a deep commitment to transformative initiatives like decolonization, internationalization, and climate justice within higher education spaces.
She envisions a future where diverse perspectives are woven into society’s fabric, fostering appreciation for all experiences. As a pioneer in Indigenous mobility contexts, Karie strives to create inclusive spaces through collaboration and co-creation. Equipped with a Master’s in Human Rights and Social Justice, project management credentials, and Indigenous program delivery training, she is honoured to navigate complex global issues. Her aim is to amplify Indigenous voices while addressing urgent challenges with innovative, collaborative, and relevant solutions.
